Disfellowshiping: The WTS Tightens Its Control
by Rado Vleugel inin this article i show that the watchtower leadership has hardened its standpoint on disfellowshipping.
they turned their standpoint from "disfellowshipping does not sever family ties" towards "quit mixing with them".
the evidence can be seen if you compare the statements on the jw-media.org website in the beliefs-frequently asked questions section before july 2002 and the hardened statement in july 2002. screenshots of both statements are displayed on watchtower information service.. .

DFing + Typos on WBTS site
by dmouse ini was looking at the jehovahs witness website for the infobyte about disfellowshipping, the one which said that disfellowshipping does not severe family ties.
i think it was in response to the question 'do jehovahs witnesses split up families?
i wanted to compare it with the latest km article which says of a disfellowshipped person 'former spiritual ties have been completely severed.

by Athanasius inwith all that is happening in the watch tower these days, its surpising that michael jackson hasn't spoken out.
after all at one time he was the most famous jehovah's witness who ever lived.. .

It is not that surprising...Michael is also accused of child abuse (however this it isn't sure he did it).

I would like to thank all the posters for their kind words. I wish success to all of you who are studying right now or are planning to do so. It is good to see that I am not the only one who made it!

At the time I went to school Jehovahs Witnesses were still discouraged from higher education. The teachers on the primary school advised me to go follow pre-university education. But totally in line with the Watchtower I followed General Secondary Education.
After I left the Org my limited education became a problem. I couldnt go to the university. But in the years that followed I educated myself. This month I sat for several entrance exams (Colloquium doctum). Today I heard that I passed all the exams! Next September I am going to study Philosophy at Leiden University.I am not the youngest student (I am 29), but that doesnt matter!
The only drawback is less income. But I have pioneered for many years, so I am used to it

completely OT....leech infection!
by scootergirl inokay.....now this thread is completely off any topic i have seen here before...but i am just in shock over an infection that my 9 year old son got w/in hours of swimming at an area lake.
my kids went swimming for about 4 hours yesterday and my middle boy, james, found a leech in his belly button on the ride home.
he didn't think anything of it and pulled it off.

I think I am immune for leeches. When I traveled through the rain forest of Thailand I had dozens of leeches that were sucking my blood. Besides of the bleeding (I felt no pain!) it didnt effect me.
Sometimes leeches are even used in medical treatments to stimulate the bloodcirculation of re-attached amputated fingers etc.I hope your son gets well soon,
